2009...2016
When it was time for me to go to middle school, my mom told me that I was going to Alameda Community Learning Center. I was very upset because I wanted to go to school with my friends, but my mom told me that ACLC was a good school for me because I was going to get the help that I need. I was scared going to a school where I only knew one person, and that was my older sister. As the years went by I started to love ACLC, which was the best decision that my mom had made. They had the best program for academic support, and the classes were not big at all. We have time at school to get our homework done, so you don’t have to wait until you get home. And when I didn’t understand my homework it wasn’t hard to find my teacher to get help.
I found out that I learn better in small classes, because I can get more one on one time with my teacher and I can focus more. My freshman year was not one of my best years, because I was a little too happy to finally be in high school. I could have done much better, looking back I am proud to that I did a 180 turn with my life. Before I wouldn’t do my homework at all, I would turn my homework in late , and when I did do my homework it would be a few minutes before class. Now I get my homework done on time and I use my free periods wisely.
I would say that the classes that I am doing best in is English and History. Better than before, I would say that my studying habits have gotten better. I don’t rush when I'm doing my homework, I actually take the time out of my day to get my work done on time. Like I said before I am using my free periods wisely. I used to be afraid to ask for help because . But now, if I don't understand something I would ask for help. I also have Carrie to break some things down as well. Before I was ashamed to go work with Carrie because I was scared of what the other kids might think. But now I don't care because everybody comes to school for the same reason and that's to learn.
One thing that I like to do outside of school is hang out with my mom. I try to spend every last moment with her before I go off to college, hopefully. My mom has a major impact on my life. She means the world to me, whatever I want but don't really need she goes out of her way and gets it for me , and I appreciate her for , and everything that she does for me and siblings. That's why I try so hard to do good not only in school but everywhere just for her, because my public appearance is her I love making my mom proud.
I wasn't really involved in my school like I should've been until last year. That's when I finally got into Leadership. I would say that Leadership really changed me as a person. I help out when I can, and I enjoy helping and being apart of something so special that means a lot to the school. Even though that I’m not in leadership anymore , I would still be apart of the school events . This year I got the chance to go Hannah Camp as a counselor, and I enjoyed myself. I would say that I have a better relationship with the sixth graders. If I had another chance to go I would go again.
I really like the fact that ACLC has computers available to the learners. It really helps me because I can get my homework done before I get home. I really don't have access to a computer at home so, this really helps out because being that most of my homework is online I am able to get it completed before I get home. The technology aspect of ACLC has helped me expand my understanding of how to work the computers and being able to prove it by doing class digital assignments such as powerpoints and the crafting of word documents. It has helped me tremendously inside of school as well as outside , at places such as work where I have to use technology to help customers.
